Can a Virtual Assistant be Valuable to a Real Estate Professional?

Hello Royals! I hope your weekend was enjoyable and restful. Mine was busy, but enjoyable. It is the beginning of another great week; full of productivity and opportunity.

Over the weekend I rode around town and noticed quite a few abandoned homes and many with for sale signs in the yard. Without realizing it I wrote down some of the addresses and a very brief description of the house. I took some pics of the signs and the houses. Surprisingly, that was fun.

After I finished my errands and chores for the day, I pulled out the paper I was jotting the info about the houses on and started looking them up. I didn't know exactly what I was looking for but did find some basic information on a few of them.

Now those of you who know me personally , know that I am a huge dreamer. I dream at night, throughout the day and I have had a few mini dreams since I started writing this lol. I have dreamed of a career in real estate. I am especially enamored with the investing side of the industry. Real estate investing is indeed profitable, but the creativity of it is what I admire.

I have great respect for real estate agents as well. Their drive and professionalism, to name a few, are indeed admirable.

Real Estate Professionals Have Lives Too

As a virtual assistant (VA), I have noticed how much they have to do in their profession. As a personal assistant, I see how challenging it can be to maintain a healthy work/life balance. Those that I have spoken to have shared some of their challenges with the latter. Stating how exhausting it is to work the long hours it takes to be successful and productive and still have to maintain a household with the basic tasks of shopping and running personal/family errands when they are done.

Others spoke on the variety of tasks they have to take care of for their business that takes away from them scaling their business like paperwork, phone calls and other small tasks that they put off or take the time they could be out doing money-making activities to complete.

What does a real estate agent do all day?

I can imagine it is a lot. This article gives a quick rundown of most of what is done on a day-to-day basis, https://www.inman.com/2017/07/24/what-does-a-real-estate-agent-do-all-day-anyway/ but I know it does not encompass all of them. If you are reading this and you are a real estate professional, think about one of your days and the areas that could benefit from an extra set of eyes and/or hands.

Outsourcing

Many real estate professionals don't know the value of outsourcing those tasks. Having someone to make those calls, send those emails or complete that paperwork, even do a little "bird dogging". They may not understand that outsourcing can be the secret to scaling their business and freeing up that time to make more deals, do more showings, etc.

VA vs No VA...

A virtual assistant for a real estate professional can be valuable. For example, you have an open house scheduled in a few days and you also have contracts to complete. You still have to make and distribute flyers or social media marketing, purchase refreshments or supplies for the open house and send out emails. You juggle all of that in between meeting with your current clients, doing closings and finishing up contracts. The day of the open house comes and you have to stop all of those other tasks to rush over to the house that is being shown to make sure it is clean and to set up for it. Your phone is ringing with potential new clients, current clients and maybe even a family member. You are still setting up when the first viewers arrive and you haven't even finished setting up. Sounds stressful to me.

Now, lets take the same scenario and add a virtual assistant. The open house has been scheduled and you have those same contracts, phone calls and client services to take care of but the open house is covered because you have outsourced that task to your virtual assistant.

Your assistant can make and distribute those flyers, handle the social media marketing and send out those emails. She can set up for the open house and even greet the viewers until you arrive or until you finish with your calls or whatever you may need to do. When it is over, she can send out the thank you emails to the viewers and handle the prospected client retention, etc. During all of this, you have freed up time to scale and run your business, stress-free.

There are many tasks you can outsource to a virtual assistant beyond what I just mentioned. Tasks like:

  • Transaction Coordinator

  • Skip Tracer

  • Real Estate ISA

  • Listing Manager

  • Bird Dogging

  • Marketing Director and

  • Administrative Manager to name a few.

There are many tasks that a virtual assistant can do to assist a real estate professional. They may not be listed, but the tasks can be designed to suit the specific needs of the real estate professional.
