What Does a Virtual Assistant Do?

Hey Royals! I hope all is well and your week is going swimmingly.

I have been asked this question so many times. I could give you the short answer which is "I am a personal assistant that handles administrative and some personal tasks and more". That answer usually suffices.

But there were others that wanted a breakdown so, I would let them know that as a VA (Virtual Assistant), there are a myriad of tasks that I can assist with; I have listed a few below. Here is the longer version, "as a VA I assist entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, real estate professionals and small business owners, to name a few, with the tasks that take away from scaling their businesses; allowing them more time by completing various tasks remotely".

Basically, if you tend to find yourself multitasking often, a virtual assistant may be just what the doctor ordered to relieve the stress of trying to do it all. Giving you the opportunity to take off a few of the many hats you wear and create more time for the things you love.

"Research done by The Alternative Board found that most business owners work an average of 50 hours per week, with 68 percent of that time tackling daily problems and tasks and just 31 percent on strategically growing their business".

I have found this to be true. I have several friends that are entrepreneurs/business owners and the numbers are pretty spot on. They complain about the long hours wrapping up the business for the day every evening so that they won't have to work on their days off. And how tired they are once they do get home. Their energy is spent and their loved ones suffer because they don't get much of their time.

Most of them have complained that they left the 9-5 rat race to be able to spend more time doing what they love with who they love or just for the time freedom to do nothing if they choose. Now they are doing it all; and doing it all alone.

I asked them would it make sense to outsource some of those daily, weekly and monthly tasks to a virtual assistant. It was a mixed response; simply because many of them did not know what a virtual assistant is or what they do. I educated them a little and the responses changed.

"Business owners spend about 17 full non-workdays worrying about their business, according to a new study".

That is time taken away from living your life, enjoying the freedom, that is usually the selling point for becoming an entrepreneur, time away from your loved ones and the things you love.

I know your business is your baby and you created a living from something that you love doing, but everyone needs some downtime; time to rest, and regroup; a reset. When you have a long list of things to do, even if you decide to close shop early, you will still have those things on your mind and that constant worrying about deadlines and the other tasks you have waiting for you when you come back defeats the purpose.

Now imagine you have a virtual assistant that knows what you need done and how you want them to do it taking care of those things for you.

So you close shop early, make plans to enjoy yourself and your loved ones and you don't have to worry because you have outsourced those tasks and when you return they are all done.

How would that make you feel? How would it feel to not have to dedicate those possible extra 17 non-workdays to finishing up those extra, little things and have more time to scale your business and enjoy your life? Would hiring a VA be worth it then? Something to think about.
